About Us
Larry and Sally are a young couple. They have only been married for two
weeks. Sally just graduated from college and has started a new job for a
large development firm. Larry has decided to get an MBA from a local school.
They are both new to town. During college both Larry and Sally stopped going
to church except, of course, during the summer when they lived at home. Now
they are married and thinking about starting their own family. They have
decided to find a church. The first place they are going to look is the
internet.
The least churched demographic in the United States is the 22-30 year old
age group. An efficient and effective church website can help the entire
congregation and community connect to information and each other. In order
to reach the next generation, the church needs to find them where they spend
much of their time: the internet.
1 Corinthians 9:22-23 "To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak;
I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some. I
do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow
partaker of it."
In
the past ministries used newspapers, billboards, signs, radio and
television to spread the Word. In today's world, millions of people access
the internet everyday 24/7. Ministries that utilize the internet and web
design give
millions of people the opportunity to learn about their organization.
SKWD has seen a need in the contemporary Christian world. Rather than
becoming more visible, the church is becoming less visible. Churches today
do not have the same visual impact and presence they did in years past. In
centuries gone by, when a commoner or traveling dignitary entered a village,
they had no question where the church was. For instance, the vast minster in
York, England with its immense and beautiful stained-glass windows was
impossible to miss when inside the walls of the city. Not only could it be
seen from the city, but it could be seen in the distance from miles away.
In centuries past, the world was simple and easy to see. Now there is a
world of travel with portals from within the home and all around. It is an
intangible world not made of brick and stone. This is the world that the
young adult age group knows best and relies on for their everyday
information and experiences. The age group that is least reached by our
churches and least connected with the Christian community lives and thrives
through the web. These portals can not only reach the unreached, but those
on vacation around the world or shut-in.
People,
in the past, have spent lifetimes building churches to the glory and honor
of God. These buildings were their visible sign to the world of their
devotion to God. When churches approach websites, they often lack the needed
foresight, planning, and aesthetic intrigue. Since their conception,
European cathedrals have been studied for their ingenious architecture,
stunning artwork, and seeming defiance of physics. Web Designs do not take a
lifetime to build. However, a good church website design does take
forethought, skill, and dedication.
SKWD has observed and defined a need, and has the tools to fill that need.
With over thirty years of experience in business technology, five years in
web-design and database integration, and teams of dedicated employees and
contractors, SKWD's associates have proven their ability to create World
Class Web Designs.
SKWD is a road tested and proven vehicle for business that is now
turning its sight on furthering the Kingdom of God. The management at SKWD
determined that building visible, beautiful, and intelligent websites, is
our way to bring glory to God.
